As the number of Tik Tok users continue to rise, the influence Tik Tok has on what shows and movies are trending on Netflix and Hulu and what songs are on the Billboard charts and being played on the radio is also becoming increasingly influential.

Every week there seems to be a new Tik Tok challenge, dance or trend that is associated with a specific song or a sound or video sample from a TV show or Movie.

TV shows like Outerbanks, Tiger King and 90 Day Fiancé have all become trending TV series on Netflix and Hulu because of Tik Tok videos that are associated with these shows get thousands of likes and appear on peoples For You page. Timothy Chalmette is an actor who is really popular on Tik Tok’s For You Page because of people admiring how attractive he is. Joe Exotic was a super popular trend with many people using some of his crazy sayings from the show Tiger King and making them into funny videos.

Dance challenges on Tik Tok are the most mainstream content on the social media platform. I am sure most every Tik Tok user has tried to learn a few Tik Tok dances. Since these dances are such a popular trend, the songs that people are dancing to become some of the most played songs on the radio. For example , songs like Supalonely by Benee, Savage by Meagan the Stallion, Don’t Start Now by Dua Lipa and Lottery by K Camp have all become some of the biggest songs of 2020.

As Tik Tok becomes more popular, so will the content that is shared on the social media platform. There is already a huge influence that Tik Tok holds on what is trending and popular in the TV, movie and music industry, I can’t imagine how many more people will be forced to join the Tik Tok bandwagons as the platform continues to grow.
